Artefact 1 

Song 1 Ableton track original song.

My first artefact is going to be a daw track that I have made which I think shows my skills with DAW and Synthesis as I have been working on these skills since I started using Ableton in my DAW and Synthesis unit in this course and since then I have been working on things like E.Q, effects management, project and track management and automation with different effects and processes. In this track I include effect automation, different midi clips which are all self-composed and arranged. I am going to try to get the track to a good listenable point by mixing with E. Qs, compression using Ozone and Ableton stock plugins and sidechaining using Kickstart 2. I also used a plugin called The Spice which makes hihats and higher frequencies sound brighter.

 

This track also used multiple synthesizers which I made myself and used to make my melodies and basslines and I feel this ties in with when I was shown midi in college which helped me understand the concept of writing  better. I feel that this shows my skills from my DAW & synthesis section of my course as this is where I learned most of my skills for making synths and writing midi which helps a great deal when writing new music and making sharp melodies with boomy low ends which are very important in the type of music I make. The synths in this track consist of patches made in Serum 2 and also Drift my aim with these sounds was to make a darker and more minimal coded sound and I feel it turned out perfect for what I was looking for. My unit recording and mixing has also helped as it has been good to learn why and where to put things like compressors, overdrives, and volumes to achieve the sound I want. I think that this ties in well with my role choice as I have a great understanding of what I am doing and what I want to do when I am making music and I can do this for other people too as I have experience making music for other people and helping them with tracks that they feel are lacking in areas. I got inspiration for this song from attending nightclubs which play deep hypnotic tracks which use a lot of repetition and automation like this one and used similar principles to arrange this track.
